In, 1976, Wain Sweat built himself a portable utility building in his own workshop for his personal use. A passerby saw it, stopped and offered to buy it. He sold the building, built himself another one and the same thing happened again. From that point, ideas formed, his goals changed and he decided to make portable storage buildings his business. Sweat's was primarily a family owned and operated business which included Wain, his wife and his two sons. Being a small industry allowed them to give each building the personal touch that it needed. After a few years, business began to grow and Sweat's has now doubled the size of their plant and have also expanded the front office to accommodate the needs of the company and the customer. Even though the business is larger, that same personal touch is still in tact today. Operating now for approximately thirty two years, Sweat's is still owned, managed and operated by Wain and his oldest son Dwain. Younger son Donnie is also still an active part of the business since he is now the company's CPA from his own business in Wrightsville. Although they have grown, Sweat's still keeps their customers in mind while trying to manufacture the "best building possible at the best possible price".
